North Carolina general contractor licenses are administered by the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors. Before becoming entitled to an examination, an applicant must be at least 18 years old, possess good moral character as determined by the Board, provide evidence of financial responsibility as required by the Board, submit the applicable fee, and consent to a criminal background check when required.
The North Carolina S(Roofing) specialty classification covers qualifying installation, demolition, and repair of roofs and decks on residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional structures where materials form a watertight and weather-resistant surface.
The classification includes qualifying roofing work involving materials and systems such as shingles, metal coverings, wood shakes, single-ply roofing, built-up roofing, roof and deck coatings, sheet-metal valleys, flashings, gravel stops, gutters, downspouts, and bituminous waterproofing systems.
