The “South Carolina Non-Structural Renovation Contractor Exam Book Package” is offered by Contractor Exam Preps and is intended for candidates preparing for the new non-structural renovation contractor classification exam (effective January 1, 2025) under the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission / South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation licensing system. The package includes six required reference texts: (1) International Building Code, 2021, (2) Carpentry and Building Construction (2010 or 2016 edition), (3) Finish Carpenter’s Manual (1993), (4) Gypsum Construction Handbook (7th Ed.) (2014), (5) The Complete Illustrated Guide to Furniture & Cabinet Construction (2001) and (6) Code of Federal Regulations – 29 CFR Part 1926 (OSHA). According to the product details, the non-structural renovation license covers activities such as installing, remodeling, renovating, and finishing of acoustical ceiling systems and panels, drywall partitions (load-bearing and non-load-bearing), lathing and plastering, flooring (excluding carpet) and finishing, interior recreational surfaces, window and door installation, fixtures, cabinets, millwork, wall coverings, fireproofing, insulation, lining, sand-blasting, waterproofing — but **does not** include alterations to load-bearing portions of a structure.

The South Carolina Non-Structural Renovation license covers a variety of interior and exterior non-structural building activities, including: installing, remodeling, renovations, and finishes of acoustical ceiling systems and panels, load-bearing and nonload-bearing drywall partitions, lathing and plastering, flooring (excluding carpet) and finishing, interior recreational surfaces, window and door installation, and installation of fixtures, cabinets, and millwork; and which also includes fireproofing, insulation, lining, painting, partitions, sandblasting, interior and exterior wall covering, and waterproofing. This subclassification does not include alterations to load-bearing portions of a structure.
